In the final scene of volume one of this series, Karlee Grey empties her mailbox of red-lettered notices on her way back to a home that she can't afford. Once inside, Karlee ditches her textbooks and her shorts, then does her best to shrug off the messages on her answering machine as well. Some parts of life come straight at you, though, and Karlee is surprised but not shocked to find a familiar face waiting for her on the couch. Sex can be a welcome break from one's reality.
